Specialty Training Events

The 2020 IWCA Annual Convention is your one-stop shop to get the hands-on training that makes for a safe, skilled and confident window cleaner. In addition to the full slate of educational sessions included with your registration, the annual convention hosts special event training throughout the week. Full details of times, rooms, trainers, and pricing will be provided as they become available.

 SAIA Competent Person Training – Suspended Scaffold.

Presented by the Scaffold & Access Industry Association.

This program is designed for suspended scaffold users and covers all the safety aspects regarding suspended scaffold stages, ropes, regulations, guardrail requirements, fall protection, hoists and installation components. The course format includes a combination of presentation, question and answer, and final exam.

Participants who score 70% or higher on the Competent Person written exam will receive a certificate of completion and wallet card from the SAIA Training Program certifying completion of Competent Person Training with Suspended Scaffold

  •  Course includes the training manual, Safety Training for Suspended Scaffolds, with self-test questions for each chapter.
  •  Chapter self-tests are included in the manual. Final exam is largely based on the questions within each self-test and it is important that students correctly answer all the self-test questions. The correctly completed self-test questions become a very useful study guide to prepare for the final exam.

OSHA 10-Hour Training Course

Presented by Lawrence D, Green, BASP – Clean & Polish Building Solutions, Inc.,

OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer.

Larry has over 30 years of industry experience and uses that experience to present situational examples during the training.  This is your opportunity to receive your OSHA 10-hour Card showing your commitment to safety in your window cleaning operation.  This OSHA course covers general industry hazards not specific to those working construction only jobs.  The course highlights improving compliance communication, training at the work site, fall protection, hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. Special emphasis is also placed in reviewing the Updated OSHA Walking-Working Surface Regulation. This regulation affects not only those individuals who do Rope Descent System (RDS) type of work, but any work that relates to the need for Fall Protection. After completing the course, attendees will receive not only a Certificate of Completion, but also will receive via mail an official OSHA 10 Identification Card.

Sunbelt Permit & Lift Training

Presented by Sunbelt Rentals.

This training covers the responsibilities of owners, users and operators, workplace and pre-start inspections, operational hazards, and accident prevention. The course includes in-classroom and hands-on training for aerial work platforms.

Class size is limited to the first 50 enrolled. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The course will be offered as a convention add-on at a cost of $110 per registrant.

 The IWCA Safety Training is included with full conference registration, but you must RSVP to indicate you will attend. We will also offer this course as a stand-alone purchase, at a cost of $155 to IWCA Members and $220 for non-members. RSVP required; walk-ins limited. Reserve early.
