Convention Training Events

The 2019 IWCA Annual Convention is your one-stop shop to get the hands-on training that makes for a safe, skilled and confident window cleaner. In addition to the educational sessions included in full convention registration (including a instructor-led session of the Foundations of Window Cleaning course with Certificate of Completion awarded), the annual convention offers opportunities on the days immediately before and after the convention to brush up on some of the most in demand training programs available.

If you are registered as a primary attendee, these events are available to you as an add-on, or you may enroll individual attendees as a stand-alone event. The IWCA Annual Convention offers many options to provide for your training needs.

On SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, we are offering SAIA Competent Person Training – Suspended Scaffold.

Presented by Harold Gidish with the Scaffold & Access Industry Association.

This program is designed for suspended scaffold users and covers all the safety aspects regarding suspended scaffold stages, ropes, regulations, guardrail requirements, fall protection, hoists and installation components. The course format includes a combination of presentation, question and answer, and final exam.

Participants who score 70% or higher on the Competent Person written exam will receive a certificate of completion and wallet card from the SAIA Training Program certifying completion of Competent Person Training with Suspended Scaffold

  •  Course includes the training manual, Safety Training for Suspended Scaffolds, with self-test questions for each chapter.
  •  Chapter self-tests are included in the manual. Final exam is largely based on the questions within each self-test and it is important that students correctly answer all the self-test questions. The correctly completed self-test questions become a very useful study guide to prepare for the final exam.

The SAIA course is being offered at a cost of $300 per student, with a $15 discount for those also attending the convention. There must be at least nine students enrolled for the course to be held. If there are fewer than nine registered on January 3, 2019, the course will be removed from the convention schedule and your registration fee refunded in full.

On SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10 & MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11 we are offering OSHA 10-Hour Course

Presented by Lawrence D, Green, BASP – Clean & Polish Building Solutions, Inc.,

OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer.

The two day, 10-hour course will be presented on February 10 & 11, in order to leave you plenty of opportunity to join in convention events. Larry has over 30 years of industry experience and uses that experience to present situational examples during the training.  This is your opportunity to receive your OSHA 10-hour Card showing your commitment to safety in your window cleaning operation.  This OSHA course covers general industry hazards not specific to those working construction only jobs.  The course highlights improving compliance communication, training at the work site, fall protection, hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. Special emphasis is also placed in reviewing the Updated OSHA Walking-Working Surface Regulation. This regulation affects not only those individuals who do Rope Descent System (RDS) type of work, but any work that relates to the need for Fall Protection. After completing the course, attendees will received not only a Certificate of Completion, but also will receive via mailed an official OSHA 10 Identification Card.

The fee for this course is $95 for IWCA members and $125 for non-members, but one of IWCA’s most active associate members, J. Racenstein, would like to show their commitment to worker safety by underwriting $35 of the fees for this class. The first 30 IWCA members who enroll in this course will pay ONLY $60. This course is routinely offered for as much as $300 elsewhere, so be sure to act quickly to take advantage of this great offer and the benefits that it will bring your operation.

On THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 14 we are offering Sunbelt Permit & Lift Training

Presented by Jeff Stachowiak of Sunbelt Rentals.
